Grow Where You Go, Tennessee

By Faith Janes posted 03-29-2023 12:03 PM

It’s springtime in the community!

Whether you’ve been here a while, are new to the area, or arrive soon, it’s a great time to get out. Our Chapter is always working to help you grow, no matter where you go.

It's hard to believe that we are already done with the first quarter of the year. In the last three months, we continued to welcome families at the “First Friday Reading Round-Up” at the Wade Bourne Nature Center. But that’s not all! We also hosted a volunteer recruitment event, cleaned up Blue Star Families' adopted highway, served at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in observance of MLK Day of Service, and served at many Fort Campbell welcome home ceremonies.

We would like to extend a warm thank you to our volunteer, Tere, and her two granddaughters, Aurora and Diana. They volunteered countless hours to sticker over 1,900 Disney books, received as a donation to support our Chapter events. Thank you also to the Christian County Military Affairs Committee for leading collaborative efforts in support of soldiers and families, to several local Navy Federal branches for their support of our upcoming “Serving, Thriving and Reading Together” book club, and to the credit union that provided several volunteers and a meeting space for the program.

Our Chapter will be supporting several community events throughout March, please check our Facebook page for more information. If interested, please sign up for the “Serving, Thriving and Reading Together” six-week book series, the Dandelion Fest on April 15th at Rotary Park, and the April 22nd Month of the Military Child carnival at Cohen.

Spring is a great time to grow with us. Register for an upcoming event or get to know some new folks in the Blue Star Neighborhood, a safe community where our families can thrive! See you soon.
