As I was preparing my weekly batch of homemade bread, I thought I would share it here. It could not be easier. It only takes me about 5 to 10 minutes in total with my stand mixer. We rarely buy store-bought bread anymore because this recipe is just so easy. If you have a bread maker, it is even easier. A bread maker was one of the best investments I made for our family. Once you have homemade bread, it's so much harder to go back to the store-bought stuff! The flavor is just so much better!

Depending on how much bread we are consuming in a typical week, I will often split this recipe out and make one loaf of bread, and one batch of rolls or buns. The recipe makes enough for two loaves of bread or one large bread maker loaf.

I buy my flour in bulk online - 50 lbs sacks, and I store it in a large bin in my pantry. It's so much cheaper than buying it 5 lbs at a time!

Yum! I love bread. It's my weakness πŸ˜† Since we have been making it more and more, I've been thinking of investing in a bread maker. We just made corn tortillas for the first time, and I couldn't believe how easy and delicious they were!

I always thought a bread maker was a waste of space, and then I started using it at least weekly for bread. I don't have a very fancy one, but with basic recipes, it doesn't need to do too much!

Do you have a recipe for the tortillas? I've always wanted to try them!

Yes, here you go (from Bob's Red Mill):

    Ingredients

    Instructions

    1. Mix salt into the masa harina corn flour. Slowly pour the water into the dough to get a good consistency. The dough should be firm and springy when touched, not dry or sticky. Let rest for about an hour, covered with a damp towel.
    2. Preheat a griddle or flat surface. Divide the dough into 2 inch balls. Press dough between two pieces of waxed paper, or flatten according to a tortilla press directions, into 6-inch circles. Place flattened dough on a hot griddle or flat surface and cook until the top of the tortilla starts to look cooked, about 1 minute. Flip to the other side and heat for another minute.
