  • 1.  Favorite Things in St. Louis Area?

    Posted 22 days ago

We are an Army family who has been stationed at Scott AFB since 2020. Now that COVID restrictions have fully eased, we are working diligently to mark things off our STL bucket list before we PCS again in summer 2024. I would love to know:

What's on your STL favorite things list?

My family enjoys the STL Zoo. Free admission which is great and there are so many exhibits to explore. Perfect place to just go and walk too! If you go buy the popcorn, it's worth it!

We love the STL zoo too! Now I have to go back and try the popcorn!

We are also big fans of the City Museum. So much so that we bought the membership! We enjoy visiting on Sunday mornings when it's a bit quieter.
We experienced the Science Museum for the first time last weekend and WOW! That place is amazing.

Our family loves many things in the St. Louis area.  We love the City Museum and the Zoo.  We also love going to Cardinal's baseball games and the St Louis Blues hockey games.  St. Louis also just got a professional men's soccer team so if you like soccer, they have those games too.  We also like going to Ted Drewes Frozen Custard Stand.  We also like going to concerts at the Hollywood Amphitheatre in Maryland Heights (right outside of St. Louis).  And we love the historic downtown of St Charles (also right outside of St Louis).  They have many old historic houses and buildings that they've turned into shops and restaurants.  At Christmas time they have a Christmas parade that has St Nicolas' from all around the world and characters from all the popular Christmas time stories.  They also have events throughout the year so you can look up to see what is coming up for something your family might be interested in.

Diane these are great ideas! Thanks so much for sharing them!

I am looking up the parade now. That sounds magical!

Grant's Farm is really nice and if your family is into history the house tour and museum of Ulysses Grant is great. Of course the arch and museum is a must. Fox theater is beautiful so catch a show there.
