One thing a friend advised me to do was to always offer something new with a meal. Maybe one piece of a vegetable. One friend of mine instituted the 'no thank you bite." Her kids had to try everything on the plate. If there was something they tried and didn't like, they didn't have to keep eating. The other caveat was that she would not make any other meals, so if they chose to not eat anything on their plate after the "no thank you bite" there was no other options.

The picky eating habit can be very frustrating while trying to enforce a healthy lifestyle. I will definitely incorporate the "no thank you bite" in our family rules going forward, thank you Maria.
